Whitehorse Medical Services Ltd is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician

The successful candidate will be responsible for the specimen collection process from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation.
Job Duties
Administer blood and urine sampling, electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, prepare specimens to be tested at other lab sites, perform clerical duties, maintain laboratory instrumentation, order medical clinic and laboratory supplies and other related duties.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of medical laboratory terminology
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Must be able to work independently
- Understanding of basic laboratory technical testing
- Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy on all clients including the infirm.
Required Experience
- Certification as a laboratory assistant with an accredited institution and practical experience in a medical laboratory setting.
- Laboratory training in microscopic examinations.
- Must be able to differentiate cell types, understand findings and be able to identify abnormalities and understand findings.
- Must understand laboratory instrumentation functions and accuracy.
- Must be able to trouble shoot, do quality control checks and regular maintenance on equipment.
- CPR and ECG interpretation certificates.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate.
